We wander in an inner weightless landscape of possibilities, parallel to our struggle in the physical world of objects and uphill climbs. Dreams and improvisation make the boundaries porous, like cavities in organic material. Our ancestors’ emotional lives and imaginative power existed for countless years before language emerged. Likely, the inner life during this long period was closer to a dreaming consciousness than an awake one.
There are no screens in our dreams.
The signs begin to swirl.
The parentheses turn outward.
Dreams may seem like a pre-linguistic technology—
like the very canvas we project our lives onto.
The installation at Dikemark consists of scenic installations scattered across several smaller rooms. The rooms carry a ritualistic and dreamlike quality, allowing visitors to move between scenes and experience them up close, like a museum of rituals, objects, stories, and forgotten sounds.
Verdensteatret is one of the country’s most renowned independent performing arts groups, celebrated for critically acclaimed productions such as Konsert for Grønland, Broen over Gjørme, HANNAH, and Trust me tomorrow.
The exhibition is made possible with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality and the Fond For Lyd og Bilde.
